Orlando has no NFL, MLB or NHL franchise, and visitors are often surprised by how much pro sport the city still packs into a season. Basketball, soccer, hockey, spring football and volleyball all have top-level or near-top-level teams here, and the University of Central Florida adds Big 12 college sports on top.

Orlando Magic (NBA)
The Magic joined the NBA as an expansion team in 1989 and are the city’s oldest major-league franchise. They’ve reached the NBA Finals twice: in 1995 with Shaquille O’Neal and Penny Hardaway, and in 2009 with Dwight Howard.
The team plays downtown at Kia Center, an 18,846-seat arena that opened in 2010 as Amway Center and took its current name in December 2023. Game nights fill Church Street and the surrounding bars, so plan for traffic and parking if you’re driving in.
Orlando City SC (MLS)
Orlando City moved up to Major League Soccer in 2015 and opened its own soccer-specific stadium two years later. The club won its first major trophy, the U.S. Open Cup, in 2022. Inter&Co Stadium holds about 25,000 fans, and the supporters’ section known as The Wall stands for the full ninety minutes.
Orlando Pride (NWSL)
The Pride share the stadium with Orlando City. In 2024 they won both the NWSL Shield for the best regular-season record and the NWSL Championship, the city’s first major professional title. Brazilian legend Marta has been the face of the club since 2017.

Orlando Solar Bears (ECHL)
Pro hockey in Orlando runs through the Solar Bears, who share Kia Center with the Magic. The current franchise started play in 2012 and plays in the ECHL, the level below the AHL. Tickets cost far less than NBA games, and the team runs regular promotions and school-day matinees.
Orlando Storm (UFL)
Spring football returned to Orlando in 2026 when the United Football League placed the Orlando Storm at Inter&Co Stadium. The UFL season runs from late March into June, filling the gap after the NFL season ends.
Orlando Valkyries (pro volleyball)
The Valkyries play professional women’s indoor volleyball in the league that launched as the Pro Volleyball Federation. Home matches take place at Addition Financial Arena on the UCF campus.
College sports: UCF Knights
The University of Central Florida has competed in the Big 12 Conference since 2023. Football draws big crowds to FBC Mortgage Stadium, known as the Bounce House for the way the stands shake on game days. Basketball and volleyball play at Addition Financial Arena.
Big events without a home team
Orlando also hosts major one-off events. Camping World Stadium stages the Citrus Bowl, the Pop-Tarts Bowl and the Florida Classic between Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M, and it hosted the NFL Pro Bowl Games in 2024 and 2025. South of downtown, the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex runs youth tournaments and national championships most weekends of the year.
Seating, parking and transit details for each arena and stadium are collected in the guide to Orlando sports venues.
Teams Orlando used to have
| Team | Sport and league | Years in Orlando |
|---|---|---|
| Orlando Predators | Arena Football League | 1991 to 2016, ArenaBowl champions in 1998 and 2000 |
| Orlando Miracle | WNBA | 1999 to 2002, then moved to become the Connecticut Sun |
| Orlando Renegades | USFL | 1985 |
| Orlando Apollos | Alliance of American Football | 2019 |
| Orlando Guardians | XFL | 2023 |
Each of those leagues or teams folded or moved, which is part of why Orlando sports fans tend to rally hard around the clubs that stuck.
Why Orlando keeps attracting teams
The region’s population has grown fast for decades, and tourism brings millions of extra potential fans each year. Public and private investment in venues, from Kia Center to Inter&Co Stadium, has made it easier to land new leagues. Organizations such as the Central Florida Sports Commission work to bring events and teams to the area because of the hotel nights and spending they generate.
